When to use DeNoise AI, Sharpen AI, and Gigapixel AI
When to use DeNoise AI
DeNoise AI is a noise reduction software dedicated to preserving fine detail that is typically lost in traditional tools. While it has some sharpening capabilities, it is not as powerful as Sharpen AI in addressing motion blur or missed focus. Consider DeNoise AI as a basic sharpening tool for simpler sharpening needs, similar to those found in Lightroom or Photoshop.
When using DeNoise AI, take into account how editing affects noise. Editing alters the pixels of photographs, including the noise present within them. Generally, you can use DeNoise AI at any stage in your workflow. However, in cases where heavy editing modifies the original noise, noise reduction may not yield successful results. To avoid conflicts, run DeNoise AI prior to edits that could modify noise.
Please note that DeNoise AI's noise reduction models are trained on unedited noise in digital, color photographs. While it may work for black-and-white images or film grain in digital scans, it can exhibit unexpected behavior in such cases.
When to use Sharpen AI
Sharpen AI is a versatile tool that effectively addresses concerns such as motion blur, missed focus, and out-of-focus images. It also offers minor noise reduction capabilities similar to Lightroom or Photoshop. However, it is important to note that this noise reduction feature is not as advanced as the AI-based, detail-preserving noise reduction in DeNoise AI. Sharpen AI serves as a minor workflow tool when extensive noise reduction is not required.
Determining when to use Sharpen AI depends on the specific photo. Typically, sharpening is done toward the end of the editing process. However, if you need to correct missed focus or motion blur, it is recommended to use Sharpen AI earlier to avoid interference from subsequent edits. For general sharpening to enhance "soft" images, it can be applied toward the end of the workflow, similar to other editing approaches.
When to use Gigapixel AI
Gigapixel AI is a photo enlargement program designed to upscale small images without sacrificing detail. It addresses pixelation issues that occur when enlarging small digital images, such as JPG files. With Gigapixel, you can increase the size of images by 2X, 4X, or even 6X while preserving fine details.
Additionally, Gigapixel offers tools for noise reduction, blur removal, color bleed reduction, and face refinement. Although these features are not as robust as our dedicated apps for noise reduction and sharpening, they can still enhance your workflow when comprehensive image improvement is not necessary. Gigapixel also includes a model specifically tailored for animation and computer graphics images.
Gigapixel AI is commonly used as a final step in the workflow. However, the timing may vary depending on the original input image. If you are satisfied with the original image and simply want to enlarge it, Gigapixel can be used as the last step. On the other hand, if you need to enlarge the image to properly edit it, Gigapixel can be used first.
