Presets

Choose a built-in preset or make your own. Learn the use case for each Preset, and how to create, modify and delete Presets.

Getting started with Presets

  • Open Topaz Video and locate the Preset filter at the top right-hand corner of the app.
  • After choosing a Preset, you can continue to add or change the model selection.

Choose a built-in Preset from the dropdown menu or select the filters you wish to combine and then select the dropdown and + Create New to save a custom preset.


4K

This preset will use Proteus to upscale to a resolution of 4K (3840x2160).


4K & 60 FPS

This preset will use Proteus & Apollo to upscale to a resolution of 4K (3840x2160) and set the frame rate to 60 FPS.

  • You can change the Enhancement model to reflect your unique use case.
  • You can change the Frame Interpolation model to reflect your unique use case.

4x Slow Motion

Choosing this Preset will enable the Frame Interpolation filter.

  • By default, Apollo is used.
  • You can choose between Chronos, Chronos Fast, Apollo Fast or Aion to slow down the playback speed of your file.

60 FPS

This preset will enable Frame Interpolation. By default, Chronos Fast will be enabled.


8x Slow Motion

Choosing this preset will enable the Frame Interpolation filter.

  • This preset will use Apollo to slow the file down by 800%.
  • For speed changes above 4x, we recommend using Apollo.

Auto Crop Stabilization

This preset will use the Auto-Crop Stabilization option to stabilize the file.


Denoise

This preset will use the Nyx model to denoise the file.


FHD

This preset will use Proteus to upscale to a resolution of HD (1920x1080).


Film 4k Light

This preset is designed for film or progressive older footage that needs a light enhancement while preserving the original look.

  • Outputs at 4K resolution using Proteus (Dynamic settings).
  • Requires Second Pass Enhancement to be enabled and uses Nyx (Dynamic settings).
  • This preset has stabilization enabled as many older family films did not have a physical stabilizer for the time. You can disable this task for faster results.
  • Much of this setting can be used as a base and further modified to your liking.

Film 4k Medium

This setup is for film or progressive older footage that need an extra push from the light touch version. This uses a different set of filters for the overall treatment.

  • 4K preset using Artmis (Medium Quality Variant).
  • This preset requires the Second Pass Enhancement to be enabled and uses Nyx with Dynamic settings
  • This preset has stabilization enabled as many older family films did not have a physical stabilizer for the time. You can disable this task for faster results.
  • This preset has stabilization enabled as many older family films did not have a physical stabilizer for the time. You can disable this task for faster results.
  • Works best with high contrast black & white films like the example above. Please ensure that “Black & White” is checked (within the Input Settings -Gear Button next to Presets), if your film is grayscale.
  • Much of this setting can be used as a base and can be partially modified to your liking.

Film 4k Strong

This setup is for film or progressive older footage with lots of grain/digital noise.

  • Outputs at 4k resolution using Artemis (Low Quality Variant) for primary enhancement.
  • This preset requires the Second Pass Enhancement to be enabled which applies Proteus with dynamic settings.
  • This preset has stabilization enabled as many older family films did not have a physical stabilizer for the time. You can disable this task for faster results.
  • Great results for 8mm/Super 8mm films digitally captured with products such as Wolverine Data MovieMaker PRO, Kodak Reels Digitizer and Eyesen Film Scanner Digitizer.
  • Also good results with grainy 16mm telecine digital files.
  • Much of this setting can be used as a base and can be partially modified to your liking.

General Enhancement

This preset is designed for general-purpose enhancement and flexible upscaling.

MiniDV HD Interlaced Basic

This preset will use the Proteus model to deinterlace and upscale your interlaced file.


Modify and Delete Presets

1. Select the 3 dot menu item on the preset you wish to edit.
2. Select Edit Preset or Delete Preset.
