Supported Cameras & Files
Topaz Photo supports a wide variety of RAW and non-RAW image formats.
General limits
- Maximum image size: 32,000 pixels on the longest side. Images this large require a machine with recommended specifications.
- 8-bit and 16-bit images are supported. 32-bit images are not supported.
- RGB Color profile is supported, CMYK is not supported.
RAW Camera Support
Topaz Photo supports RAW files from dedicated digital cameras (DSLR, mirrorless, medium format, etc.)** that are included in the LibRaw 202403 snapshot list, along with additional camera models supported directly by Topaz.
If your digital camera's native RAW format is not yet supported, you can still edit your images by converting them to the universal .DNG format (see steps below)
Unsupported RAW camera?
If your camera's native RAW format is not yet supported, you can still edit your images by converting them to the universal .DNG format.
If using Lightroom Classic
- Import the file using the Copy as DNG option.
Without Lightroom Classic
- Convert your RAW files using the free Adobe DNG Converter.
The .DNG format preserves your RAW image data and is fully supported in Topaz Photo.
Other RAW Workarounds
If needed, you can also:
- Convert the RAW file to TIFF or JPEG before importing.
- Use Topaz Photo as a plugin from a supported editor such as Photoshop or Affinity Photo, which will convert the file to a non-RAW format.
However, we recommend using the .DNG workflow whenever possible, as it preserves your RAW image data and allows you to take full advantage of RAW editing in Topaz Photo.
Supported Non-RAW File Types
Topaz Photo supports these non-RAW file formats:
- HEIC
- JPG / JPEG
- PNG
- TIF / TIFF
- WEBP
Unsupported File Types & Workarounds
The following file types are not currently supported. Use the suggested workaround before importing into Topaz Photo.
- Apple ProRAW / Apple RAW – Convert the file to TIFF, JPEG, or PNG before importing.
- CBR – Extract the images, then import the TIFF, JPEG, or PNG files.
- CBZ – Extract the images, then import the TIFF, JPEG, or PNG files.
- DNG files from unsupported mobile phones or drones – Convert the file to TIFF, JPEG, or PNG before importing.
