When to Use Whitelisting and Ports
When to Use Whitelisting and Ports for Topaz Labs Apps
Only follow this guidance if you are using a VPN, proxy, firewall, or managed network.
If you are on a normal home or personal network, you usually do not need to do any of this.
This applies to:
- Topaz Video
- Topaz Gigapixel
- Topaz Photo
Start here: Do you need this?
You may need whitelisting only if:
- You are connected through a VPN
- You are behind a corporate, school, or government network
- You use a proxy or network firewall
- You run enterprise antivirus or endpoint security
If none of these apply, stop here — this article is likely not relevant to your issue.
What problems this solves
Network restrictions can block Topaz services and cause:
- Model downloads that stall or fail
- Activation or license verification errors
- Update checks that never complete
- Blank or loading screens inside the app
Domains to whitelist (if applicable)
If your network restricts outbound traffic, allow the following.
Primary domains
topazlabs.comtopaz-labs.netwww.topazlabs.com
Additional required services
downloads.topazlabs.commodels.topazlabs.commodels-bal.topazlabs.comveai-models.topazlabs.comapi.topaz-labs.netet.topazlabs.comapi.topazlabs.comtopaz-labs.net
Using wildcards (recommended)
If your firewall or antivirus supports wildcards, this is the simplest setup:
topazlabs.comtopaz-labs.net*.topazlabs.com*.topaz-labs.net
This helps prevent future connection issues.
Required ports
Allow outbound traffic on:
- Port 80 (HTTP)
- Port 443 (HTTPS)
No inbound ports are needed.
What this enables
These network allowances let Topaz apps:
- Activate and validate licenses
- Download AI models
- Check for updates
- Access required cloud services
If issues continue
After making changes:
- Restart the app
- Restart the computer
- Reconnect the VPN or network
If the issue persists, Topaz Support can help confirm whether connectivity is the cause.
